The design of Cherry Crest Residence aims to maximize light and space. All non-structural partitions were removed for rearrangement of the space, housing a supersized open kitchen, a dining area, and a living space. Sliding and folding panels are utilized to form a changeable threshold of privacy connecting the living area with the master suite, allowing a flexible multi functional space within the open living space.
The open plan takes advantage of light exposures, naturally rendering the central living area. The surrounding ensemble of private spaces – a master bedroom and closet – is also raised on wide white oak planks with a natural finish. The material palette includes a walnut cabinet and honed white marble for the kitchen, plaster for general wall surfaces, and honed sandstone for bathroom. Combined with recessed down lights between the ceiling beams, LED floor lights enable a variety of atmospheric states.
